Warrior Baseball Parents,

We welcome you to the West High School Baseball Program. As a parent you play an important role in the participation of your son in the baseball program. Below you will find information regarding team policies.

Attendance. Each player is responsible for attending every practice and game. This includes Saturdays, holiday practices and tournaments. If your son misses a game for an unexcused reason, it is up to the discretion of the coaches as to the suspension, or possible dismissal from the team. Parents should email or call the coach if your son is ill and absent from school. In case of rain call your coach for the status of the game or practice. The freshman and JV’s have a tournament over Spring break, the Torrance Challenge. Varsity will play during the Spring break in Covina. The time commitment of your son will continue to grow if he progresses through the baseball program.

Injuries. Players are to report all injuries to their coach as well as our trainer, Allison.

Schedules. Schedules have been posted on the West High Baseball website. We appreciate your flexibility in terms of rain cancellations. Games are not usually cancelled until around lunch time on days it is raining. Tournament schedules are to be determined in the later rounds.

Game travel and permission slips. We will always have a bus scheduled to travel to and from the games when school is in session with the exception of Redondo H.S.. All players must travel from school to the game on the bus. Parents may take their son home after games with prior notice to the coach. During Spring break there will be no buses. Directions to all games should be requested from the visiting school or ask the coach prior to the game. Parents have volunteered to provide directions to the team in the past.

Clearance packets. Need to be turned in ASAP. Forms are online via the West High School website, www.whs.tusd.org (no exceptions). Your son will not be allowed to practice if he has not been cleared prior to February 11, 2008. Fall or winter sport athletes are already cleared; however, please make sure your coach has a copy of your Emergency card.

Coaching. Each coach does player evaluation on a constant basis at each level. Each player has been placed on a team based upon his ability, attitude, and the needs of the program. Playing on this year’s team is not a guarantee that your son will be on next year’s team. If you have any questions about your son, please refrain from communication with a coach the day of the game. There can be a lot of different emotions right before, during or after a game by both the coaches and parents. We will address your concerns at the appropriate place and time. If your concern pertains to playing time, we strongly encourage your son to approach the coach first. Consequently, if this does not satisfy you or your son then the next step would be for the parent to contact the coach.

Please keep in mind the amount of time your son’s coach spends with them during the week in order to prepare them for a positive yet competitive experience.

We look forward to an exciting season of Warrior baseball. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

LAUNDERING AND CARE OF ATHLETIC UNIFORMS

TAG Team Uniforms recommend the following cleaning and storage procedures:

Laundry Preparation

bullet

Check for normal wear and tear so repairs can be made promptly to prevent further damage.

bullet

Launder uniforms immediately after each use.

bullet

Garments that can not be laundered immediately should be rinsed out in cold water and hung individually on rust proof (plastic) hangers.

bullet

Perspiration fading will occur if uniforms are left wet in a pile or in a travel/laundry bag.

bullet

Do NOT over load a washing machine.

Pre-soak

bullet

Soak heavily soiled garments in cold water with protein release agent for a maximum of 45 minutes.

bullet

Garments should be washed immediately after pre-soaking in a normal cycle.

Washing

bullet

DO NOT wash whites and colors together.

bullet

Wash only in COLD water (30 degrees C, 65-86 degrees F).  Do NOT wash BELOW the recommended temperatures as that water that is too cold may cause some dyes to run.

bullet

Wash with a mild detergent that has a ph under 10 (such as Ivory, TIDE or Cheer).

bullet

DO NOT use chlorine bleach, or any form of bleaching agent, whitener, brightener or laundry booster as that excessive fading or color bleeding will result.

bullet

DO NOT use any fabric softener.

Drying

bullet

For best results, uniforms should be hung to dry on a rust proof hanger.

bullet

When tumble drying, use the LOWEST temperature AIR ONLY setting.  Do NOT allow uniforms to sit the dryer after the cycle is completed.

bullet

When tumble drying, jersey's should be dried with the reverse side out.

bullet

EXCESSIVE HEAT will cause SHRINKAGE and IRREPARABLE damage to the screen printing on the garment.

bullet

NEVER WASH OR DRY using high temperature settings ( over 120 degrees F).

Dry Cleaning

bullet

DO NOT dry clean any athletic uniforms.

Storage

bullet

Dry garments completely before storing.  Store in a cool dry area out of sunlight and fluorescent light.

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE MAY VOID ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES
